Choir Clapper

There is no finesse in its use of Silk. It consumes its slim supply only to amplify its force.

Choir Clappers are enemies in Hollow Knight: Silksong. They are slow, but powerful members of the Choir wielding a mallet and a Silk spool to enchance their attacks.[1]
Behaviour and Tactics
Choir Clappers walk slowly between attacks, walking backwards a short distance when Hornet is too close to them, and walking forwards to pursue her when she is out of range of all their attacks.
- Retreat: Performs a much faster backwards scuttle than their usual walk speed. Often used after missing an attack when Hornet is close to them.
- Lunge Clap: Readies its mallet behind itself before lunging forward a short distance and doing a large overhead swing with their mallet.
- Jumping Clap: Holds their mallet above their head before jumping forward and swinging it overhead as they land.
- Silk Implosions: Holds its mallet high as silk wraps around it, then taps the ground with the staff of the mallet, sending waves of silk implosions outwards toward both sides of the arena, telegraphed by white circles. The silk implosions only deal
. - Silk Slam: Readies their mallet above their head whilst wrapping it in silk, then performs a Jumping Clap attack, with a large white circle appearing where they swung. After a moment, the circle implodes with silk, dealing

Choir Clappers have a 100% chance to drop a Silk Spool on death that can replenish 2 strands of Hornet's Silk.
The 2 Choir Clappers fought as the final wave of the Forum gauntlet never overlap attacks, roughly alternating between which one attacks at a time.
The Choir Clapper in Act 3 gains the Void Blobs attack, and uniquely doesn't perform the Silk Implosions or Silk Slam attacks. All forms of damage it produces deal ![]()

Despite their large size and impressive reach, Choir Clappers do not chase down Hornet aggressively, preferring for Hornet to remain at the edge of their reach and mainly using their basic melee swings or their only ranged attack against her. They have a large blind spot in front and above them, as even when jumping, they only swing when reaching the ground. This means using the wall of the arena is very effective when cornered, allowing Hornet to stay high up and dodge their attacks before jumping above and behind them.
When fighting two Choir Clappers at once, it is important to make sure the two of them are not on opposite sides of Hornet, as they can deny her the space needed to dodge their attacks.

- Bow your heads in reverence!
- Prostrate your meagre shells!
- Tremble before our masters!
- Know our lords divine!
Location
Choir Clappers can be found exclusively in the Forum of the High Halls. Three are fought during the enemy gauntlet. A fourth Black-Threaded Choir Clapper appears in the same room during Act 3 accompanied by a Minister; neither of these enemies respawn.
