Cogworker

More effective an opponent than would be guessed. The precarity of its winding domain can make even its simple assault a challenge.

Cogworkers are enemies in Hollow Knight: Silksong. They are flighted automatons responsible for repairing and extending the Cogwork Core in the Citadel.[1]
Behaviour and Tactics
Cogworkers initially prioritise work and repairs, sometimes flying to another place where they continue their work. During this, they ignore Hornet, but still deal
on contact. Upon striking them however, they begin to pursue Hornet over any distance, and any nearby Cogworkers also begin targeting Hornet.
Once they are in range, they move forwards slightly and slash all around themselves in a small area, comboing Hornet for
+
if she is hit by it at any point during the attack animation. After this, they fly backwards a short distance to retreat before their next attack.
Ranged and charged attacks can take them down quickly without getting too close. Counterattacking during their attacks is also effective, due to their short range and inability to move whilst slashing.

Trivia
- The chirping sounds they make when singing are shared with Hornet's Cogflies; Maestro cogflies do not make this sound.
- In the Silksong reveal trailer, Cogworkers had a different behavior, being stationary and passive to be used for traversal with the Clawline, similiarly to Driftlins.[2]
