Flintslate is a Red Tool in Hollow Knight: Silksong. When used, it briefly increases the damage of Hornet's Needle.

Usefulness

Hornet under the effects of Flintslate

Using Flintslate imbues Hornet's Needle with fire, causing it to deal 50% extra damage for 8 seconds. Activating the Flintslate briefly pauses Hornet's movement even if she's in the air, similarly to Binding.

After Hornet hits an enemy between 2-5 times in a row while Flintslate is active, the enemy will catch on fire and take 3 ticks of burning damage. There is a 20% chance for it to take between 2-5 blows; otherwise it will take between 3-4.

Crafting Kits do not affect this Tool in any way.

• Burning damage scales with Needle upgrades: it deals 1 damage per tick when Hornet has no Needle upgrades, 2 damage when she has one, 3 damage when she has two or three, and 4 damage when she has four. Successfully reigniting an already burning enemy resets the duration of the burning effect to the maximum.
• Upon use, Flintslate reverses the frosting effect on Mount Fay by ^{[Missing information]}%, and while its buff is active, frosting rate is slowed by 30%.
• The Flintslate's buff instantly ends if Hornet falls into water.
• It is especially useful in combination with Flea Brew, as you will be able to attack more while Flintslate's damage multiplier is active.

How to Acquire

Found in Deep Docks, to the west of the lowest entrance from Far Fields. The Flintslate sits on a workbench in a small room, at the top of a tall chamber of hanging platforms.

Tool Synergies

Pollip Pouch	Every Needle swing inflicts poison, but enemies no longer catch fire and the damage increase is reduced to ~30%. The effect is no longer removed upon falling into water, [Missing information] and the duration is increased to 10 seconds.
Magnetite Dice	Increases the chances of a "lucky hit" (which has a chance to take fewer hits to ignite an enemy) by 2%.

Decreases the cooldown between Needle swings, increasing the maximum number of swings possible while Flintslate is active.

Trivia

• Flintslate has a unique interaction while standing in the showers left of the Citadel Spa, where Hornet's needle will release water vapour when the Tool's effect is active.
  • This interaction is disabled if Pollip Pouch is applied.
• According to its item description, the Flintslate is made out of cut and polished Flintgem.
