Nuphar

A snapping surprise on first encounter, though one easily avoided once aware.

Nuphars are stationary enemies in Hollow Knight: Silksong. They are predatory plants from Verdania, with their jaw shaped to resemble a lily pad.[1]
Behaviour and Tactics
Nuphars disguise themselves as large lily pads, which can be found all over Verdania for platforming. They trigger once stepped on, trembling before leaping out of the water in an attempt to devour Hornet, Comboing her for

if she gets caught in its mouth.
Nuphars sink into the water after attacking, and come back up after around 6 seconds.
They can be safely ignored by quickly dashing off lily pads, especially since they give ample warning that they are about to attack. They are able to be attacked for a brief moment after leaping, but there is little reason to kill such a sedentary threat, especially as their Journal entry is automatically granted after defeating the Clover Dancers.
Location
Nuphars can be found in Lost Verdania.
