A grand tribe they seemed, and strong fighters I'm sure. Alas, they exist now only as hardened husks. Lament, Child Wielding Needle! We lived too late to match their claws.

The Order of Karak was an ancient legion of warriors that resided over the once clear river of the Sands of Karak's past,[1] and the last standing civilisation in opposition to Grand Mother Silk's rule over Pharloom.[2]

Description

The Order of Karak was an order of staunch and skilled warriors.[3] They believed in order brought by claw and blade,[4] and were led by their tyrannical king Crust King Khann.[5] He was a hardened warrior whose stern stewardship made his warriors fearless, faithful, and utterly loyal to him.[6][7][8] Members of the Order relied on water, and as such the clear, flowing river in the region was a cornerstone of the Order's power. The Order was also known to have possessed a powerful ability to command and control the growth of coral crust at their will,[6][9] a power that would have rivalled even the Citadel.[10] This allowed for the construction of the Coral Tower as well as the fusion of the Corrcrust Karakas with the crust-growth.[10][11]

Made up mostly of powerful warriors, the Order was one of the skilled and swift.[3][12] Their vast numbers and diverse abilities allowed them the use of advanced battle strategies, often involving aerial support for grounded warriors.[13][14] The Karaka were the core members of the Order. They were talented blade bugs, providing the primary force on the ground.[3][8] Karak Gors were heavier, hard-shelled warriors, capable of commanding coral crust and relying on weight and strength for combat, as they did not wield blades.[15] Alitas were leaping hunters and the swiftest warriors of the Order, deftly skilled with spinning foreblades.[16] The aerial warriors of the Order were composed of the Kakris, lithe, winged scouts of the Order, frequently paired with their heavier, grounded brethren. Similarly to Hornet, they favoured fast strikes and rapid movements.[13] Yagos were wide-masked, winged aerial attackers, trained to act as aerial support for their grounded companions while remaining at range.[14] While not a frontline force, they all emerged to attack Hornet in her assault against the Coral Tower.[17] Corrcrust Karaka were overgrown elder Karakas who were able to spawn burning bubbles from within their coral-cased shells.

In the Order's prime, it held half of Pharloom under its hardened claw.[18] Despite this accomplishment, once their clear river stopped flowing, their domain became a desert with unending sandstorms. Most of the Order, including their king, became nothing more than hardened husks within the Coral Tower.[19] Their mark upon Pharloom was left to be eroded by sand and time and was eventually forgotten.[20][21] Only the Watcher at the Edge was left to guard the border of the Order's domain, but they became stiffened by time and fell dormant.[22] Hornet killing the Watcher brings an end to the Order of Karak.
