The Putrified Ducts are an area connected to the Memorium and Bilewater in Hollow Knight: Silksong. The dirty, swamp-like tunnels here have been polluted by smog from The Citadel.

Description

Broken bridge

The area mostly consists of vile and disgusting water, filled with Muckmaggots. There are 4 large rooms with aqueducts running from one side to another. The ducts are also home to the Ductsucker, which feeds off of the slime on the ducts. The Wreath of Purity tool can be found there, next to the ruins of a Pinstress's balloon. At the top of the area after a secret parkour challenge you can find Vog, an NPC that finds her way to the Flea Caravan after you talk to her. Once she is back at the Flea Caravan, she will give you the locations of Fleas in exchange for Rosaries.

History

It is likely that long ago the water in these areas resembled the Pale Lake in cleanliness.

The ducts carried the Citadel's waste and smog, infesting the water in the area with Muckmaggots. However, the excess waste would end up poisoning Bilewater and its inhabitants.

How to Access

The entrance via the Memorium can be found through a hidden passage in the ceiling of the Memorium's map room which is discovered as part of the The Lost Merchant Wish. This passage leads to an open area with a breakable wall on the far right at a point accessible through careful jumping.

Alternatively, there is an entrance that may be opened through the highest point in Bilewater, past the arena in Bilehaven. This passage leads to the bottommost room of the region, next to the Huntress's dwelling. A gate will block off the top areas of the Putrified Ducts however, so the rest will have to be explored through the Memorium entrance.

The Pale Lake is a sub-area in the far east of Putrified Ducts. It consists of a large, open cavern with a vast expanse of water in it.

In contrast to the rest of the area, the water in the Pale Lake is clear and clean.

In Act 3, Hornet can use Silk Soar to access a secret area and find a lore tablet for the Passing of the Age wish.

At the edge of the lake is a Weaver Lore Tablet that can be revealed by playing the Needolin.

If Hornet has visited the Pale Lake and rescued 22 Fleas, the Flea Caravan will move to the Pale Lake and set up a permanent residence there.

In Act 3, Fleamaster Mooshka will set up the Festival of the Flea and give the Ecstasy of the End wish.

After Shrine Guardian Seth has been defeated in Shellwood, he may be found in Fleatopia. Seth competes in the Festival of the Flea, gaining higher scores than any of the Fleas. If Hornet beats all of his high scores he will give the Guardian's Memento.
