Skarrgard

Theirs is the perfect shell for their duty, a wall of a warrior and an adept fighter. If I hope to claim their treasures, I must bring my best.

Skarrgards are enemies in Hollow Knight: Silksong. Bulky defenders of the Skarr's stores and passages, they attack with ferocious might. They do not respawn when sitting at a Bench, so if one is killed it does not appear there again.
Behaviour and Tactics
Skarrgards do not naturally wander, and are instead always resting in place. They often perform short forwards dashes to pursue Hornet, but otherwise use Leaping Slam or Burrow to chase her down.
Skarrgards have 3 different moves that they can perform:
- Double Swing: Rears back and performs two forward swings with their weapon, stepping backwards slightly on the second swing.
- Jump Slam: Leaps forwards to where Hornet is and performs a colossal overhead swing. Running under their jump is often the only means of escape without Swift Step, but if reacted to fast enough, it can be escaped via running away as well.
- Burrow: Jumps down into the ground and reappears where Hornet is standing, with slight variation.
Skarrgards deal ![]()
for all attacks as well as contact damage.
As the fight starts, Skarrgard roars for approximately one second, during which they are vulnerable to damage. When Skarrgard leaps for a jump slam, stay on the ground and walk past so that they pass overhead. Hornet can jump over Skarrgard's double swings, following up with a downward attack to deal damage. Obtaining Swift Step is highly recommended, as it allows Hornet to dash and sprint, which greatly helps with evading Skarrgard's attacks. Alternatively, all attacks can be parried with good timing.

Location
A Skarrgard can be found guarding the passage between The Marrow and Hunter's March.
Another Skarrgard appears in a storeroom at the top of Hunter's March, accompanied by a Spear Skarr. This room requires the Drifter's Cloak and Cling Grip (or well-timed needle bounces) to access.
A third Skarrgard appears in the basement of Halfway Home, being a part of the group of Skarr that ambush Hornet when she attempts to claim the Vintage Nectar.
A fourth, Black-Threaded Skarrgard appears in Act 3, in a hidden room past Skarrsinger Karmelita's chamber in Far Fields.
