Sula is an NPC who appears in Hollow Knight: Silksong, exclusively in Steel Soul Mode.

Background

Sula is Steel Seer Zi's vassal, who they share masters with.[2] Tired of watching the lands die and the bugs suffer while they serve their masters, Sula decided to run away and call upon the Void to summon a champion to protect themself from the masters' wrath.[3][4]

In-game Events

Sula and their location only appear after accepting the A Vassal Lost wish and find all three locations to advance to the final step. After slaying Sula's champion, Hornet decides to not take them back to Steel Seer Zi, and Sula promptly flees into the ground.

First encounter Hornet: Cease your summoning, fool bug!

Hornet: Though you may yearn for freedom, that saviour you hope to call will bring only death.

After defeating the Summoned Saviour If the Summoned Saviour is defeated before Act 3:

No. No. No... My champion slain!
Why do you do this, cruel slasher? Why must I stay, and serve, so long, long, long?
Hornet: That void must not be called, bug. Not ever. None can control it, though many have tried.
Hornet: Any strength you hoped it offered would fast be proven false.
Hornet: Consider yourself fortunate I arrived in time. Your shell is saved, all by wish of your steel companion, and fear of her Masters' punishment.

Hornet: ...Others may know that pain, small bug... Or at least something similar.
So will you chain me again? Herd me by point of your blade, and knowingly return me to that pain?
Hornet: ...I will not. I will inform the child of steel of what has transpired here, but I cannot force any bug to return to a task so cruel.
Then, then... Sula is free? At least to run? By your mercy, bug, these legs must move, quick, quick and far, far!

If the Summon Saviour is defeated in Act 3:
No. No. No... My saviour slain!

Hornet: That void must not be called, bug. Already it attacks these lands with enough force to end them. To summon it stronger will only hasten that fall.
Hornet: For this moment at least, your shell is saved. It was only by wish of your steel companion, and fear of her Masters' punishment, that I arrived in time.

Location

Sula is located behind a passage in Bonegrave, to the west of the Chapel of the Wanderer. They only appear after finding the marked locations from the A Vassal Lost wish.
