Thread Raker

Tall bug charged to pile Silk dregs in preparation for respooling. Their sharp rake now doubles equally well as a stabbing weapon.

Theirs seems a sad, grueling task, serving their lifetime for a Citadel unseen.

Thread Rakers are enemies in Hollow Knight: Silksong. They are tall Moorbugs, charged to pile Silk dregs with their rakes to prepare them for respooling by Silk Snippers.[1][2]

Behaviour and Tactics

Thread Rakers can perform 3 different attacks, and often move backwards or forwards between each attack.

  • Rake Throw: Leaps back slightly and pauses in the air, then throws its rake at Hornet before falling back to the ground.
  • Double Thrust: Thrusts towards Hornet with its rake twice, though it cannot turn around or end the attack before the second thrust, leading to easy counterattacks from Hornet.
  • Burrow: Burrows into the ground and tunnels away from or towards Hornet, indicated by a dust cloud where they are currently burrowing.

Thread Rakers deal with all of their attacks and on contact.

Being able to jump away from Hornet means that Thread Rakers can punish her if she attacks carelessly, so be patient and get hits in at safe moments, such as when they are finishing a Double Thrust, or immediately after they Burrow.

Needolin Dialogue

  • Spin it, send it...
  • Catch it, spool it...
  • Why... always this?
  • Even these dregs...
  • The air... the fields...
  • Are we only dregs?

Location

One Thread Raker can be found in the room outside Greymoor Bellway station, holding its Rake up towards the falling dregs.
Another Thread Raker can be found patrolling the elevated hall between the two Windmills.

A non-respawning Thread Raker can be found once in the small battle arena inside the base of the right windmill. In Act 3, two more non-respawning Thread Rakers can be found there.
