Charm Maker Mato is an NPC in The Glimmering Realm.

Lore

Mato, a former cook[1] turned Nailmaster[2] and the sibling of Definitely Leonardo da Vinci?[3], spends his free time making Charms.[4] He lives far from the towns that make him nervous[5] and, as a result, doesn't get many visitors.[6]

In-game events

Mato can be found in his hut in the Outer Fortifications of the Crystal Depths. He offers the Knight a Charm of his own making, Longnail.

First Encounter Oh, a visitor! That's quite unusual, all the way up here. Unless you count the bugs that try to kill you, of course.

I make little charms as a hobby, do you want one?

Refusing charm Fair enough, come back later if you're interested.
Listening again Ah, you're back, are you interested in one of my charms now?
After receiving Longnail I hope you'll have much success with my little charm! Just polish it regularly with some Durandoo fat!

Dream Nailed Maybe I should pay a visit to the old village at the foot of the hill again?

Listening after learning Great Slash[Missing information] Oh, you met my brother, the old artist? I always thought he was too ambitious with his art. Never taking a moment to relax.
Listening after acquiring Nailmaster's Glory That's a truly exquisite little charm you are wearing there! Where did you get it? The village to the west? ... Perhaps I'll have to pay them a visit at some point...
Exhausted dialogue Charms are really rewarding to make! It's a shame it's a dying art.
