Verdania

So many moments spent simple... joyful... free...

Verdania is an area in Hollow Knight: Silksong which was once home to the rulers of Verdania, the Clover Dancers. It was filled with greenery and beautiful flora of bulbous flowers and fauna of nimble bugs, but now it is a dilapidated cavern found in Act 3 if Hornet chooses to free the Green Prince in Sinner's Road and finds him in the room containing the Cogwork Dancers. Upon entering present-day Verdania, the Green Prince can be found standing above the corpse of a Cogwork Dancer, grieving over his partner. Hornet can enter the memory of Lost Verdania by playing the Elegy of the Deep near the Green Prince.
Description
The Verdania that is found in-game is the remains of the lost kingdom of Verdania. It is a dimly lit cave, housing ruined architectures of the lost kingdom and the lamenting Green Prince. This small corridor is devoid of collectibles, barring the Verdania Map and a bench at the end.
History
Verdania was once a lush kingdom of green neighbouring Pharloom ruled by the Green Prince and his lover. When Pharloom's ruler threatened Verdania, the Green Prince's lover offered his own body as the mould from which the Cogwork Dancers were made in exchange for Verdania's safety.[1] However, this deal would not be upheld, as Verdania has since been reduced to a tiny desolate corridor; the last remaining specimens of Verdania in the Memorium were left to rot and be forgotten when the environment was "exceeded".[2]
Hornet can visit Verdania in its prime, known as Lost Verdania, by accessing the Green Prince's memories.
How to Access
Verdania can be accessed through a pathway in Greymoor after progressing the Green Prince storyline. Talking to him once to the west of the Citadel Spa and once in the room where the Cogwork Dancers were first fought moves him to Verdania, the entrance to which opens upon reaching Act 3. The entrance to Verdania is located on the rightmost wall of Craw Lake in the far east of Greymoor.
Area Features
Lost Verdania
Playing the Elegy of the Deep by the Green Prince in Verdania transports Hornet to Lost Verdania, a memory of Verdania in its prime. This is a lush, green cave that contains some puzzles where 12 glowing orbs have to be collected in a row in order to access the Clover Dancers boss fight. 7 are found in breakable statues or flowers which spawn a chain of orbs that must be collected quickly. 5 are obtained from defeating the Palestag, and another 5 are obtained from activating the Sacred Shrine in the eastern-most room. If Hornet collects all 17 orbs from completing all of the puzzles, she will gain access to an additional lore tablet. Playing the Needolin highlights edges of the screen in the direction of uncollected orbs.
Defeating the Clover Dancers grants Hornet the Conjoined Heart, which is a fourth Heart that can substitute one of the three needed to advance the plot.
Note that after beating the Clover Dancers, Lost Verdania becomes completely inaccessible, though it also unlocks all necessary Hunter's Journal entries from the area. (This does not include Palestag, which is not required for 100%.)

Trivia
- Verdania was originally going to be thriving in the current time period and be located where the Wormways currently are, both combined into a single region with the room with the Craggler being part of it.[3]
- According to Ari Gibson, Verdania was "on the chopping block" during the later years of development and "just got saved a year or two before [release]."[4]
