First encounter | Ahh, a wanderer. I've been many places and done a great many things, but I suspect you will outdo me by far.
I've long ceased travelling the caverns of Hallownest and I suspect they're now far more dangerous than in my journeys, though with your capable air I'm sure you'll do fine. Good luck! It's a vast world out there. |

Exhausted dialogue | You find it strange to see a moth wielding a weapon? We are a passive species, though I am not the only one amongst us to take up arms.
Another braved the edges of this world, hoping to uncover a truth long forgotten. I wonder what became of him? |
Thistlewind

Thistlewind is a moth spirit in Hollow Knight. They give information on the Moth Tribe and on Markoth.
Lore
Thistlewind was an explorer who travelled across Hallownest.[1] Despite the moths being a passive species, they were one of the few moths who wielded a weapon.[2] Eventually, Thistlewind died and was buried in Spirits' Glade.
In-game events
Thistlewind appears above their grave in Spirits' Glade when the Knight approaches. They explain that they have stopped travelling Hallownest and suspect that it has become a much more dangerous place.[1] Thistlewind wonders what became of Markoth, who went to Kingdom's Edge to uncover a truth long forgotten.[3]
Like all other spirits, the Dream Nail can be used on them, giving 1 Essence. This causes Revek to attack.
