GRUB CARE INSTRUCTIONS

HINTS AND WARNINGS FOR THOSE WISHING TO ADOPT A GRUB

Grubs grow quickly and are voracious eaters. They will happily eat anything, but it is considered taboo to feed them flesh or eggs. This may give them unseemly appetites.

Grubs long for friendly company and will become despondent if left alone. This is because in nature they are reared together with their brothers and sisters. Spend as much time as you are able to with your grub.

Grubs like to squeeze themselves into tight spaces, but will panic if they get themselves stuck. If you have lost your grub, try leaving out an open jar or other container with food inside. The grub will often creep in and can be found happily tucked inside.

Unusually, grubs love to be touched and stroked by other creatures. It may run counter to your bugly instincts, but try patting or holding your grub - you may enjoy it!

When grubs are overcome with feelings of gratitude, they may sing softly to their adopted parent. There are old snail-tales about the song having invigorating or restorative powers, but this has never been proven by learned bugs. If your grub sings to you, listen simply for the pleasure of it!

If your grub feels unhappy or neglected or unsafe, it may try to burrow away. Powerful instincts will guide the grub back to the place it hatched, so you can usually find it there.

As with all things, your time together with your adopted grub will come to an end at some point. When your grub moves on to the next stage of its life, do not try to stop it or mourn the event as a loss. Everything has its time, and everything obeys its nature. Hold onto the happy memories you shared with your grub. Perhaps you will meet each other again, in your dreams...
