Pale Ore is a rare Item in Hollow Knight.
Use
Pale Ore can be found in various locations in Hallownest. The Nailsmith can use Pale Ore to upgrade the Knight's Nail in exchange for Geo.
The first Nail upgrade does not need any Pale Ore. The second upgrade requires one piece, the third needs two, and the final upgrade demands three pieces of Pale Ore, amounting to a total of six Pale Ore to fully upgrade the Nail.
How to acquire
A total of six pieces of Pale Ore can be obtained:

| Inside Nosk's lair in Deepnest, accessed by breaking a wall in the room west of the Hot Spring. | Requires defeating Nosk.

| Given by Grubfather. | Rescue 31 Grubs.

| Reward in Colosseum of Fools. | Complete the Trial of the Conqueror.
