Kindly Isma Loyal Ogrim and Kindly Isma

Champion from a brighter age. Protected the King and watched over the grove where she would eventually rest.

Kindly Isma is a boss in Pale Court. She is one of the Five Great Knights, at the peak of her past glory.

Behaviour and Tactics

Kindly Isma bows to the Knight at the start of the fight. Hitting her while she is bowing causes her to immediately use a Vine Whip attack. Kindly Isma uses the following attacks:

  • Vine Whip: Isma appears either on the ground or in the air and sweeps her vine towards the Knight.
    • If Isma appears in the air and the Knight gets to close, she’ll cancel the Vine Whip and instead use Acid Throw.
    • The Knight can nail-bounce on the vine.
  • Acid Throw: Isma throws three drops of acid towards the Knight in a cone-like patter. When they touch the ground, they turn into small pools of acid that disappear after ~1 second.
  • Seed Bomb: Isma throws a Seed Bomb into the air. Once it reaches the ceiling, it explodes, creating seeds that fly across the arena until they either hit the floor or a wall of the arena.
    • In Phase 1, when a seed touches the floor/walls of the arena, it grows into a Fool Eater/Gulka respectively. Only two Gulkas and three Fool Eaters may be present in the arena at once. The Fool Eaters/Gulkas have 16/1 health respectively.
    • In Phases 2/3, when a seed touches the floor of the arena, it grows into a vine pillar. Only three vine pillars may be present in the arena at once. The vine pillars have 35 health and disappear after ~14 seconds. The vine pillars do not deal contact damage and instead block the Knight’s movement.
    • Isma will only perform this attack if there are either two Gulkas and less than two Fool Eaters or if there are less than two Gulkas in Phase 1 and if there are less than three vine pillars in Phases 2/3.
    • Upon entering Phase 2, all Fool Eaters and Gulkas are destroyed. Similarly, upon entering Phase 4, all vine pillars are destroyed.
    • Before entering Phases 2/3, Isma always throws a Seed Bomb of which the seeds travel to the sides of the arena. These seeds do not grow into Fool Eaters, Gulkas or vine pillars.
  • Vine Wall: Once Isma enters Phase 2, she throws a Seed Bomb of which the seeds travel to the sides of the arena. The seeds grow into Vine Walls, closing off the arena. When Isma enters Phase 3, she once again throws a Seed Bomb, closing off more of the arena. Once Isma is in Phase 3, the Knight takes contact damage from the Vine Walls.
  • Ceiling Gulkas: From Phase 2 onwards, two Gulkas on the ceiling of the arena constantly shoot at the Knight. These Gulkas can not be destroyed.
  • Thorns of Agony: At the start of Phase 2, Isma appears in the air in the middle of the arena and shoots five vines in an arc below her three times. The middle vine is always aimed at the Knight. She repeats this attack two more times.
    • Once Isma enters Phase 4, she only uses Thorns of Agony until she is defeated.

Location

To reach Kindly Isma, both the White Defender and all three Dreamers have to be defeated first.

Enter the room where you find Isma's Tear. Use Dream Nail on Isma's corpse to enter her dream arena and initiate the fight.

Trivia

  • Once Kindly Isma enters Phase 4, her health briefly increases to 800 before going down to 250.
  • The Ceiling Gulkas from Phase 2 onwards appear to have a Seal of some kind placed over them.
  • The Vine Walls in Phase 2 can be climbed using the Mantis Claw.
