Once a highly intelligent bug, deformed by the misuse of soul.

These fools meddled with the soul of other creatures and lost their shape. Now they skulk through the shadows of their Sanctum like slugs, hoping their old brothers will build them new bodies.

Mistakes are enemies in Hollow Knight. Former scholars of the Soul Sanctum, these bugs' bodies were deformed by the Sanctum's experiments with Soul.[1][2]

Behaviour and Tactics

Meanders back and forth, charging at the Knight when in range. May occasionally appear out of the ground.

Location

Large numbers of them are located in the Soul Sanctum, occasionally appearing out of the floor. Three Mistakes also spawn in the Colosseum of Fools during the 9th wave of the Trial of the Fool.

Trivia

  • The Mistake is one of the few enemies that respawns upon leaving and re-entering the room.
  • The Mistake is one of the few enemies that has multiple different appearances, but no change to behaviour. Other enemies with this trait are Sibling, Corpse Creeper, and Fungified Husk.
