Vengefly
Flying predator that pursues its prey relentlessly. This fierce little hunter will bravely chase down creatures many times its size. Admirable! It is weak though, and I have devoured hundreds of them with little effort or care. |
Vengeflies are enemies in Hollow Knight. They are flying predators who inhabit many areas in Hallownest, although the Vengefly King is native to Greenpath.[1]
Behaviour and Tactics
Hovers in the air, moving around a small area. Emits a squawk before homing in on the Knight when they come in range.
One of the first and easiest enemies in the game. Either wait and strike when it gets within range, or jump and strike down at it. Either way, it will continue to move towards the Knight, making it possible to stay in one place and continue attacking until it is dead.

Trivia
- The Vengefly is one of the few enemies that respawns upon leaving and re-entering the room.
- Vengeflies spawned by the Vengefly King in Greenpath still drop Geo.
- In a Kickstarter update, it was referred to as Vengeward Buzzerfly:
- "Once this flying predator has caught sight of its prey, it will hunt it relentlessly through the darkness."[2]
- If spawned by The Collector, after 99 seconds, Vengeflies stop targeting the Knight and float in place. If damaged, they become aggravated again and chase the Knight for another 99 seconds.
- This is due to them being coded differently from standard Vengeflies. The Collector's Vengeflies have a "chase time" of 99 seconds compared to the usual 10. Their code also lacks a line of sight, meaning that once their chase time ends, they cannot "see" the Knight again unless attacked.
